The Avening Hall will host Whitney Rose, Sam Cash and the Romantic Dogs and The Devin Cuddy Band on Friday, Oct. 3.
All three acts are with Cameron House Records, a recording and promotion company out of the legendary Queen Street bar.
Less of a line-up and more of a triple bill, says Cameron House Records co-manager Mike McKeown, the three acts will take concertgoers through a country-to-rock soundscape.
Country crooner Whitney Rose will start the show and rocker Sam Cash and his band will close the show.
Devin Cuddy’s band will tie the two together.
Sam Cash is the son of Andrew Cash and Devin Cuddy is the son of Jim Cuddy, of Blue Rodeo fame.
Cuddy has recorded two albums with Cameron House Records. The first, entitled Volume One, was nominated for a Juno Award in 2012 in the roots and traditional album category. The band is now touring to promote the new album, Kitchen Knife, released in July.
“We’ll each do our own thing and then maybe we will play a couple of tunes at the end all together. Whitney Rose will be going first and her and I have done a lot of touring together. She’s very much a country artist, which I think blended well with what we were doing… Sam Cash, whose pretty scrappy rock n’ roll will end the night and be a very good closer for a good, fun night,” Cuddy told The Echo. “I will be the bridging force.”
Cuddy said after graduating from university and travelling, he returned to Toronto and was encouraged by his friend Cosmo Ferraro who had taken over management of Cameron House from his mother.
Cuddy said Ferraro and McKeown encouraged him to perform at the bar, record an album and tour.
The young musician has often visited the Cuddy family farm in Mulmur Township.
“I have driven by Avening Hall many, many times though I have never been in, it’s a nice hall,” said Cuddy.
Kayla Howran is playing with Big Tobacco and the Pickers in Duntroon on Saturday, Oct. 4.
A fabulous weekend of musical entertainment continues with the Sudbury-based country and western renaissance band brings hard-hitting classics and original material with a traditional sound.
