I am writing to voice some disagreement with a letter that was published in the last edition of the paper regarding the 2015 election. (re: Stop present bully tactics, re-establish democracy)
We should all acknowledge that our democracy isn’t perfect. But it is a democracy and as such we should respect the institution and not use it for political posturing and exaggeration.
As constituents of Simcoe Grey it is our responsibility to make an informed decision.
Dr. Leitch has been as dedicated an MP to this riding as any and she has provided strong leadership on many local issues. Going back to Dr. Leitch’s previously criticized Twitter account, it is also quite easy to see that she is constantly at events across our beautiful riding. Perspective is important in the midst of the unfortunate landscape of “bully politics.”
An honest assessment of each of the candidates’ strengths and weaknesses is important when each resident votes in October. I hope that all candidates rise above the personal attacks and focus on the issues that matter to the constituents they are wanting to represent.
