Editor:
I am stunned that Kellie Leitch is considered by many Conservatives to be a Leadership contender.
The vision of Dr. Kellie and Chris Alexander on the television news announcing with pride the plan to ‘institute a snitch line’ to report persons who may be involved in ‘barbaric cultural practices’ still lingers in my mind.
Does she not realize that similar ‘snitch lines’ were used by the Nazis to round up Jews in the Second World War and to send them to death camps?
Does Kellie have a similar camp in mind or only deportation?
As a young person, she may have been too dedicated to her vision of conservatism to see the wider world around her and to realize that many Christian practices had roots in ‘primitive tribal customs’. She should read ‘The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross’.
Maybe the pressure of the long campaign was clouding her vision, and those of very right wing conservatives. Do we want a leader – male or female – who loses reason and direction under pressure?
