Clearview council approved zoning bylaw amendments Monday that will permit the construction of a farm implement retail location at Cashtown Corners for Huron Tractor.

Huron Tractor is one of the largest partners of John Deere in Canada. They are in the business of renting, selling and servicing agricultural equipment. They sell a variety of new and used farm equipment.

Two buildings are included in the plans and the grounds will have areas for display and sales, equipment service and temporary equipment setup.

The main building will be 2,400 square metres, including a service department, parts and retail office, according to township planning staff.

The second building will be 720 square metres and will be used as a warehouse. An outdoor display area for large equipment is proposed on the east and west of the property.

A portion of the property, owned by John and Marie Miller, is being rezoned from agricultural to agriculturally related commercial, to permit the dealership.

The entrance will be off County Road 9.

The operation will replace the existing Huron Tractor business currently located at 1618 County Road 42.

“The new proposed location will provide better service to their customer base. The larger property will allow for expanded operations and the central location allows for easy access from the farming community,” reported planner Rossalyn Workman.
