The Stayner Kinsmen continue to expand on its annual duck race, raising money for community projects in Clearview Township.
The 5th annual duck race takes place at Kinsmen Park in Stayner on Saturday, May 7.
The day begins with a pancake breakfast served by the Stayner Lions Club from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Jubilee Presbyterian Church.
Entertainment begins at 11:30 a.m. with the Danceroom and continues with the Gullys and John Gabriels Band. A barbecue lunch is available.
The corporate duck race begins at 1 p.m., just before the main event.
The first place duck wins $500, with $250 for second place, $150 for third prize, $50 for fourth and $25 each for fifth and sixth place.
Tickets cost $5 each and are available at The Creemore Echo. One dollar from each of the tickets sold at The Echo goes to the Cybergnomes robotics team. Tickets are also on sale at several locations in Stayner, including Dairy Queen, Home Hardware, L&S Repairs, Stayner Rental, Friends Pub, Petal Pushers, Pharmasave and Stayner Optometry.
Corporate duck entries cost $25 and can be decorated to reflect the business. Clearview Township businesses are also encouraged to decorate their shop windows for a chance to win a $250 prize.
Register shop windows for judging by calling John Squire at 705-428-2648 by April 20.
