Four-year-old Meredith had a beloved 14-year-old dog named Abbey. Abbey passed away and the next day Meredith being very sad and missing her dog asked her mother if they might write a letter to God. Her mother thought they might and Meredith dictated the following: My dog Abbey died yesterday and is with you in Heaven. I am sending a picture so you will recognize her. Thank you for letting me have her for so long. I really miss her, Love Meredith.

They put the letter in the mail with their return address and Meredith put an abundance of stamps on the envelope as she felt it would take all of them to get all the way to Heaven. Meredith asked her mother if she thought God had gotten her letter, and her mother replied that she was sure He had. A few days later a package wrapped in gold arrived addressed to Meredith. Upon opening the package Meredith found a book called “When A Pet Dies”, along with the picture she had sent. The message in unfamiliar handwriting said Abbey had arrived safely and was not sick anymore. “Her spirit is here just as it remains in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. You have a wonderful mother and I picked her just for you. I am returning your picture because there are no pockets in Heaven and you need to keep her close to your heart. I send my blessings every day and remember I love you very much and by the way I’m easy to find wherever there is love. Love God.”

Remember: When you are feeling depressed and someone says, “just suck it up”, control your urge to break their leg and say, “just walk it off”.
