Betty Marie Holling (nee Leighton) passed away at age 82 on Sunday, October 23, 2016 formerly of Fenton, Michigan. Betty was born near Creemore, Ontario and was raised on a working farm with her parents, three brothers and three sisters. She attended a small rural one room school house as a child and later trained at secretarial school. Betty married Anthony Fehrenbach in June 1955. Together they immigrated to the United States in 1963 and resided in Michigan. They had three children together and divorced in 1974. In 1978, Betty married Hugh R. “Dick” Holling, who has been her constant, loving companion for 38 years. Later in her career she became a successful real estate agent. Betty was struck with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in her fifties and for a number of years she proudly participated in medical studies searching for treatment and cure for RA. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Richard S. Leighton and Susan (“Tiny”) J. (Norris) Leighton, brother Donald Leighton, and sister Helene Bilton. Betty is survived by her husband Hugh Holling; children Karen Fehrenbach, Kevin Fehrenbach, Kimberly Mikat; grandson Kyle Mikat; son-in-law Jeffrey Falcon; sisters Elsie “Dot” Young, Joyce Glenn; brothers Ray Leighton, Doug Leighton; and many nieces and nephews.
