A dog park and other features are being added to the EcoPark in Stayner.

Clearview council approved a concept plan for the EcoPark at its Nov. 28 meeting. In addition to an off leash dog park up to one acre in size, named Eco Bark, there will be a community garden, a parkette and trail development, with a potential link to the Emerald Creek subdivision, including a bird viewing platform.

Clearview Township GIS/IT Technician Janet Chester presented the plans, developed with 2016 student planner Curtis Jacques.

The EcoPark, located off Mowat Street, is a multi-year project that is being developed in the vicinity of the Stayner sewage treatment plant.

The project has received funding and support from a number of partners, including Stayner Collegiate Institute. The space will provide hands-on learning experiences in science, green industries, art, and the environment.

Interpretive signs, accessible trails, a bird blind, bird boxes and a pollinator garden will provide an opportunity to view over 200 different species of birds in the area.

The entrance to the EcoPark is at 300 Mowat St. N.

The trails and fencing has been planned in such a way as not to interfere with the operation and maintenance of the treatment plant.
