Editor:

I have read many opinions about Canadian values, standards, racism, bigotry and tolerance from people who must not read what they write. They attack Kellie Leitch, Trump, Conservatives and people who don’t share their Liberal values. Tolerance is a one-way street to them. The sad truth is we all have some racism in us, just towards different people and issues. Jesus Christ said it best: You who are sinless let him cast the first stone.

If you want to work with kids, or own firearms, the police check you out. You have to pass a test to graduate from school, emission and safety tests for cars, there are even standards for toilet paper, yet none to enter the country? If Trump wanted to immigrate to Canada would he be given tolerance, or would bigotry prevail?

It is not what has been done wrong in the last six months or what will be done in the next six months, it is the sins of the past 50 years that have finally caught up with us. The problem with Canada is we have become too tolerant of misleading politicians, wasteful bureaucrats and people of entitlement.

The colour of government does not matter, none want to pay down debt. They cannot balance an annual budget when interest rates are almost nothing. What would happen if interest rates went to 21 per cent like in the 1980s? The artificial economy of the 1920s led to the crash of the stock market in 1929, 10 years of depression and the start of the Second World War in 1939, all because of greed and incompetent politicians who did not want to face reality. See any similarity? History repeats itself. Our kids should have a debt-free future. Nothing fuels racism, bigotry and intolerance more than hard times, depression and war.
