Curiosity House Books is hosting an art show and book launch on Saturday, June 23.
The art show is called Cloth, Paper, Scissors, a joint show for Owen Sound paper artist Elly MacKay and Eugenia textile artist Kelly Hill, each with new children’s books. There will be crafts and refreshments at the show, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The launch is for MacKay’s most recent book, Red Sky at Night. Her distinctive pieces are made using paper and ink, and then are set into a miniature theatre and photographed, giving them their unique three-dimensional quality.
She is the author and illustrator of If You Hold a Seed, Shadow Chasers and Butterfly Park.
Hill is the artist behind Anne’s Numbers, Anne’s Colors, and the forthcoming Anne’s Alphabet and Anne’s Feelings.
Her illustrations are a combination of sewing and embroidery.
