Demolition of a derelict house on Wellington Street West in Creemore was completed this week.
“In September, council passed a bylaw to make our property standards bylaw proactive,” said Clearview’s bylaw enforcement officer Joe Paddock. “We sent a letter to the owner to advise them of the issues with the property. We couldn’t come to a resolution there.”
Paddock said an order was placed on the property to either bring it to standard or remove the house and the outbuildings on the property. He said the property owner chose the latter option resulting in the demolition of the house at the owner’s expense.
Several years ago, in response to a complaint, the fire department had addressed safety concerns at the property and as a result, the house was boarded up.
