In June, Byng Public School will close, and students will move to Clearview Meadows Elementary School beginning with the 2020-21 school year. As part of the Accommodation Review Committee (ARC) process, Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) trustees approved that “staff establish an ad-hoc committee… to recommend to the board a school name or names for the Board’s consideration, subsequent to the confirmed closure date of Byng Public School.”
SCDSB is inviting members of the Clearview Meadows and Byng school communities to share thoughts and ideas regarding the school name. Interested individuals can fill out an online survey until Tuesday, May 12.
A naming committee has been formed, and includes a number of representatives, including student and parent representatives from both Byng PS and Clearview Meadows ES, the local trustee and municipal and community representatives. The naming committee will meet virtually to review responses from the community and provide a recommendation for review and decision by the SCDSB Board of Trustees.
