Editor:
Snake Plissken’s proposed new vision for Clearview as an exclusive anti-social behaviour zone has clearly inspired Council. Like many ideas that are before their time, this may be ridiculed by some. But a good offence is the best defence. So having passed their by-law, Council should move forward immediately with a marketing campaign. This of course should have a slogan, or tag-line, and a memorable jingle. And given Council’s commitment to public engagement, holding a competition would be a great way to move forward.
In the interest of getting this going, I am offering some ideas to prime the pump:
For slogans, and in keeping with Mr. Plissken’s musical theme:
Clearview – Beyond Thunderdome
Clearview – Just Never Sleeps
Clearview – Where You Too Can Rattle And Hum
And for Clearview’s New Township Song, Home on the Range is an obvious tune to build on for the new Vision. So I propose the following new lyrics:

Oh, give me a home where the ATV’s roam
Where the gear and the attitudes play
Where seldom is heard an encouraging word
And the skies are just dirty all day.

Home, home on the range
Where the beer and the platitudes spray
Where seldom is heard any warbling bird
And the guys are just ripping all day.

The creatures who thrived, can no longer survive
As the river beds all wash away
The trails will degrade and the roads where they played
Will be littered with garbage all day.
