Beginning later this month Station on the Green will open on Tuesday mornings for drop-in social time.
Dubbed The Station Café, an initiative by Station manager Debbie Hill, the community centre will be open for a couple of hours to anyone who wants to chat over coffee or tea, maybe play a game of cards.
Hill said she kept hearing people say that on certain days there was nowhere to go to socialize, a problem exacerbated by the pandemic. So she is hoping to fill a void by providing a space.
“The door is wide open on this,” said Hill.
The hope is to cover the costs of opening the Station so $5 will be charged for a bottomless cup of coffee or tea. Bakers at the Creemore Farmers’ Market will be supplying some treats.
Everyone is welcome, whether retirees, parents, or people work at home. Children are welcome too.
Hill intends to adapt the space as it evolves, catering to whoever happens to show up.
The Station Café is open Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., beginning March 22.
