A staff report presented to Clearview council this week calls for creation of a no-parking zone on the east side of Concession 10, north of County Road 124, and a smaller no-parking zone on the west side.

The area is popular with outdoor enthusiasts, including hikers and rock climbers. Frequently, visitors park on both sides of the road creating unsafe conditions for large farm equipment trying to maneuver through the area.

Dan Perreault, deputy director of Public Works told council that on the west side, the shoulder is wide enough to permit vehicles to move off to the side. The shoulder on the east side is much narrower, so when vehicles are parked there, the roadway is constricted. The staff recommendation is for a no-parking zone on the west side extending 50 metres north from the intersection of County Road 124, and on the east side extending 175 metres north from the intersection.

Councillor Robert Walker pointed out that without increased enforcement, any bylaw will be worthless.

Council will vote on the proposed new bylaw at the April 25 meeting.
