The barrel racing community is mourning her loss.

“Whether it was words of encouragement for a beginner, to hopping the fence when someone was in trouble or hurt, Katie had a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. We are thankful to have shared many years of memories in the barrel pen with such an amazing young woman,” posted The National Barrel Horse Association on Facebook. “We wish Brody nothing but the best in his recovery, and keep him in our thoughts during this incredibly difficult time. Katie’s friends, family, and husband are in everyone’s minds and hearts. Katie was taken from the world too soon, but rest assured her smile will continue to shine bright from above.”
