Tribute Communities has come on board as a top sponsor of the Creemore Coyotes senior AA hockey team.

The developer has announced it will contribute $10,000 to the team for the 2023/2024 season.

“It’s huge,” said Coyotes president and general manager Tom Macham, adding that the money will go a long way to cover the operating costs of the team. “We’re extremely grateful for the support.”

The Coyotes will wear a shoulder patch on their jerseys in commemoration of Tribute’s 40th anniversary.

“Tribute Communities is very happy and proud to support Creemore Coyotes,” said Tribute communities vice president Steve Deveaux in a statement to The Echo. “We have a long history of supporting the communities we work in. In a short time we have come to learn how passionate this community is about their hockey team. We are excited to be part of the upcoming season. Go Coyotes!”

Tribute is the developer that is looking to construct up to 536 residential units at the former Alliance Heritage Village site at County Road 9 and Mary Street in Creemore.

The Coyotes have recently joined the new Ontario Elite Hockey League (OEHL), under the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) and Hockey Canada umbrella.

The success of the team still depends on high attendance and support for fundraising initiatives.

The first event is a wine tasting with Creemore Hills Winery on Nov. 18 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., including door prizes and charcuterie, followed by a three-on-three exhibition game with the Stayner Siskins at 7:30 p.m. Admission to the game is by donation to the food bank. Later in the fall, there will be a raffle for an e-bike.

The Coyotes will play reigning league champions the Tavistock Royals at the home opener at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 21.
