Dear Creemore,

Some of you know me as the pastry chef apprentice at YF. I am writing this letter because, like some of you know, I am leaving Creemore this week for good. I arrived last summer from Belgium to learn the art of pastry from François and Yoonhee. It was my first time in Canada, and I did not know what to expect. I just knew it was going to be an experience I would forever remember.

When I started working at YF, I knew I was bound to meet new people. They would become familiar faces to me and hopefully, I would become a friendly face to them. However, I quickly learned that the people of Creemore don’t just stay familiar faces. With every interaction I had in YF, through small talk, laughter, and deeper conversations, I was lucky enough to get to know a lot of you, residents of Creemore.

When I made the decision to go back home, I knew that saying goodbye would be hard. More than leaving Creemore, I would be leaving every person I had grown attached to, even though it was through weekly short conversations. I was welcomed with open arms here and I know that everyone I have connected with has always been genuine in their interest in getting to know me; and the idea of not seeing all of you on the regular truly saddens me.

So, I wanted to thank you for an amazing year in Creemore. I have grown, learned, and met so many interesting and fantastic people in these last 14 months. No words will do justice to how much I appreciate the welcome you have given me. I will truly miss Creemore, and I already can’t wait to come back and visit.

Finally, I just wanted to say a special thank you to the YF team, it was truly special working with all of you. François and Yoonhee, it has been my honour to learn and work with you. Lastly, to Jill, for giving me a room in your home and becoming a true friend in the process.

Until next time,

Charlotte Rahier
