The last Christmas Market hosted by the Creemore Farmers’ and Craft Market is this Saturday, Dec. 16. Each week has seen a variety of local vendors providing artisan products and food items indoors at the Station on the Green. Although the venue is small, the welcome is big! We have 22 vendors to show their wares and give you the opportunity to pick up unique gift items.
The Winter Markets are scheduled once a month through January, February, March and April with a special Easter Market at the end of March. We will be hosting contests at each market and encourage people to enter and participate in each contest. If you are not a contestant then you be the judge! Sample and judge the entries on the day.
“Share the Knead” bread contest on Jan. 13. If you are a bread baker, roll up your sleeves and bring your best to our tables. Entries can be made by email to creemoremarket@gmail.com. Send your name, email and phone number and choose a category: cheese bread, savoury bread, molasses bread, fruit bread, sweet bread, sourdough bread. One loaf for viewing, one cut up for sampling and judging. Your entry will be confirmed by email with instructions for delivery of your entry on the day. Creemore Farmers’and Craft Market was established 27 years ago and has weathered many changes over the years, including two years of the pandemic. We have a group of entrepreneurs and farmers who attend the market through the year. The Farmers’ Market provides start up companies or small businesses who do not have a brick and mortar establishment with the opportunity to sell their products to the public. As a registered Farmers’ Markets Ontario venue, we are governed by the regulations of FMO and the Health Unit. As with any organization, volunteers are essential and we said goodbye to two of our long-time volunteers this year; Sandra Lackie – one of the original founding members of the Farmers’ Market who gave many years to the market – and Helen Martin, who was the market manager for many years, – both retired to other activities. The market board and vendors thank both of these outstanding volunteers for all their time and energy and for developing the Market into what it is today.
