The York Simcoe Minor Baseball Association (YSBA) presented its 2023 awards at the Liberty North Event Center in Barrie in October:
Brady Eggleton (above) receives the Athlete Achievement Award from Clearview Mayor Doug Measures during the 2023 Clearview Township Culture and Sports Hall of Fame presentations at the Stayner Community Centre. Eggleton played for New Lowell Minor Baseball Association for several years and was part of teams that won several championships. He was selected to be part of the SSMBA All-Star game on two occasions, the latest being in 2019. His last year of minor baseball was played in New Lowell for the 18U team in 2022.
Matthew Hepburn received the YSBA Junior Umpire of the Year Award for the 2023 season from president Steve Koziel. Hepburn has been umpiring games for the past three seasons demonstrating an increased confidence and growth.
Todd Patton and Shane Duits, coaches for the U9 Select Team of the New Lowell Minor Baseball Association (NLMBA) received the YSBA Select Team of the Year Award for the 2023 season from YSBA president Steve Koziel, on behalf of the team. This was the inaugural season for a U9 Select Team, which had success at the YSBA championships, getting the opportunity to compete at the provincial championships in Sault Ste. Marie over the Labour Day Weekend achieving a 2-2 record.
