I live in McKean subdivision on Blackburn Ave. Several weeks ago, a meeting was held in our local McKean Memorial Park. Area neighbours were not notified about the meeting however, when several tents were erected, my neighbour came to my door to inform me that ‘something’ was going on in the park. The meeting was held by Clearview council and staff. The meeting was to describe proposed improvements, construction, removal of several trees to provide room for a parking lot, a basketball court, pickle ball court, and a walking path. The existing park is a peaceful green space, with a few children’s swings, climbing equipment, and a slide. The park is surrounded by neighbouring homes.

Fourteen years ago we chose to live in McKean subdivision because of the peace and quiet, the privacy, the lack of traffic and noise, and the enjoyment of living in a country atmosphere.

As a community we have not been asked nor been given the opportunity to vote on these changes to our park. Excess people and activity from outside of our neighbourhood will affect the peaceful enjoyment, plus the after-hour noise that will accompany these changes.
